Kareena Kapoor Director Sujit Sarkar had signed Aamir Khan & Kareena Kapoor to play the lead in Kishore Kumar's biopic. But producers UTV weren't happy with the demands of Sarkar & Aamir. Later on, UTV asked Anurag Basu to direct the film while Shah Rukh Khan was offered the main lead. Sadly, things didn't work out with both of them. Finally, Imtiaz Ali has been roped in to direct the film. Ranbir Kapoor has been signed to play the main lead.
Kareena Kapoor With Ranbir agreeing to play the lead, a fresh issue has cropped up for the producers. Kareena has refused to be paired together with her cousin Ranbir & walked out of the project. Last heard, the producers were looking for a female lead.
Kareena Kapoor The movie that will be called Mother: The Indira Gandhi Story will tell the story of the woman who first became Prime Minister of India in 1966 and served her country until 1977, before taking the office again in 1980 and stayed in power until she was assassinated in 1984.
Indira Gandhi attended Oxford University in the late 1930s. She met her future husband Feroze Gandhi in England and the two married in 1942, a year after Indira had returned to India and joined the Indian Independence Movement. When her father became Prime Minister, Indira helped out and learned a lot about politics. After her father's death in 1964 Indira was appointed to the Indian Upper House of Parliament.

In 1966 she became the Prime Minister of India and besides taking the lead in economic and agricultural reforms, she led India through difficult times as the war with Pakistan raged the country in 1971 and Bangladesh gained its independence. She declared a state of emergency in 1975 but lost the elections in 1977.
After coming back to power in 1980, Indira made a life-changing decision in June 1984 when she ordered the Indian army to enter the Golden Temple to confront insurgents who had gathered in the Sikh holy temple. As a consequence, Indira was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguards Satwant Singh and Beant Singh on October 31, 1984. Kareena Kapoor
