She shot to fame with the movie Rangeela where she portrayed the character of Milli Joshi for which she won the nomination of Film fare best actress award. Matondkar, Urmila love for the silver screen began as a child where she acted in her first movie Masoom in 1983 and then her debut with Sunny Deol in Narasimha. The actress however maintained the fact that her relationship with Ram Gopal Verma was strictly professional and nothing else.
